efex to acquire onPlatinum, accelerating national managed IT growth and deepening mid-market capability

efex to acquire onPlatinum, accerlating national managed IT growth

The A$30 million acquisition deepens efex’s capability in the corporate mid-market and marks the latest step in a disciplined national growth strategy.

efex has entered into a binding agreement to acquire onPlatinum, one of Australia’s most respected managed IT businesses, in a transaction valued at A$30 million. The acquisition strengthens efex’s national managed technology platform and significantly deepens its capability in the corporate mid-market.

onPlatinum is the IT managed services division of ASX-listed Comms Group Limited (ASX: CCG). The transaction is expected to complete in the September 2026 quarter, subject to customary conditions.

A strategic step in efex’s national growth

The acquisition reflects efex’s clear ambition: to build a national managed technology partner that combines enterprise-grade capability with genuine local accountability, and to bring greater consistency to a highly fragmented managed services market.

For Australian businesses, that means access to a broader, more capable technology partner. For efex, onPlatinum adds scale, specialist talent and east-coast density to a platform already serving thousands of customers across the country.

efex CEO Nick Sheehan said the acquisition reflects the company’s continued focus on building deeper capability in sectors where specialist expertise delivers the greatest value to customers.

What onPlatinum brings

Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Queensland, onPlatinum has built a strong reputation over more than a decade, underpinned by its ‘High Tech. High Touch’ philosophy, combining outstanding technical capability with close, responsive customer relationships.

The business delivers managed IT, cloud, cybersecurity and communications services to customers across the eastern seaboard, and brings to efex a highly capable technical team and a relationship-led service culture closely aligned to efex’s own.

Deeper capability for the mid-market

The acquisition strengthens efex’s position in the corporate mid-market - larger, multi-site organisations that require specialist technology expertise but still value a partner that knows their business by name.

onPlatinum’s ITIL-aligned managed services and virtual-CIO advisory add depth in governance, structure and strategic technology planning at this end of the market. Combined with efex’s national footprint and specialist strength in cybersecurity, cloud and healthcare IT, the result is a partner able to deliver enterprise-grade capability with the responsiveness of a local team - a combination few competitors can match.

Built on a disciplined record of growth

onPlatinum is the latest step in efex’s buy-and-build strategy, which has steadily expanded the company’s capability and reach. Recent acquisitions include Datcom (cybersecurity); Medihost Solutions, Priority 1 IT and Crowd IT (healthcare and medical IT); and Compusult, Aish IT and Wyscom (extending reach across regional and metropolitan Australia).

The transaction also follows Advent Partners’ majority investment in efex in October 2025, which continues to support the company’s growth and consolidation strategy.

Nick Sheehan, Founder and CEO of efex
“onPlatinum is exactly the kind of business we like to bring into efex - a high-quality team with deep customer relationships and real technical credibility. It takes us further into the mid-market: the larger, multi-site organisations that need enterprise-grade IT but still want a partner who picks up the phone and knows you by name. That’s the business we’re building - national scale and specialist depth, delivered with local accountability.”

Continuity for customers and teams

efex has confirmed that continuity will be the immediate priority. The people, relationships and service that onPlatinum customers rely on will continue, supported by a twelve-month transition arrangement designed to ensure a smooth integration for customers, suppliers and employees.

“The first job in any acquisition is to respect what made the business successful in the first place. Our job is to protect that, invest in it, and build from it.”  Nick Sheehan, Founder and CEO, efex

“We built onPlatinum around a simple idea 'high tech, high touch' and that has never changed. Joining efex gives our customers and our team the backing of a national platform and a broader set of capabilities, while keeping the local relationships and service they value. It’s the right home for what we’ve built, and an exciting next step.” Shannon Overs CEO, onPlatinum

Meeting rising demand for trusted technology partners

The acquisition comes as Australian businesses navigate growing technology complexity - escalating cybersecurity risk, accelerating cloud adoption, and rising regulatory and resilience expectations.

Increasingly, mid-market organisations are seeking fewer, more capable partners able to manage that complexity end to end, rather than juggling multiple specialist vendors.

efex’s strategy is built around meeting that need: pairing the scale and specialist depth of a national provider with the accountability and responsiveness of a local one. The onPlatinum acquisition advances that strategy and reinforces efex’s position as a leading consolidator in Australian managed technology services.
